About the Artist

Edward Aldrich is constantly striving to create art that speaks to the wonder of the natural world as well as to the sheer pleasure of painting. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1987. When he was 26, he was juried into the Society of Animal Artists and his work is frequently included in their annual exhibition. His work is in the permanent collection at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and has been accepted into their prestigious Birds in Art show numerous times. His paintings have been included in shows at the Gilcrease Museum, the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale, and others.

Artist Statement

When it comes to describing my sources of artistic inspiration, I am afraid that I may be suffering from what can only be called artistic schizophrenia. I will gain inspiration from such diverse sources as Nicholai Fechin and Raymond Ching, Bob Kuhn and Bruno Liljefors, Frank Tenney Johnson and T. Allen Lawson, Sorolla and Schmid, Wyeth, Sargent, Anton, and many, many more. As different as these artists are, all of these sources of inspiration offer unique expressions of the artistic vision and thus varying approaches in their execution. I am constantly amazed how many different ways artists can effectively express representationalism. I can only hope that some of it rubs off on me in a positive way.
