About the Artist

Tony Hochstetler is a sculptor of animals, particularly reptiles, amphibians, insects, birds, and marine life. He is a member of and has won awards from the Society of Animal Artists and the National Sculpture Society. His work has been exhibited at Gilcrease Museum, National Museum of Wildlife Art, National Academy of Design, Masterworks of American Sculpture: Selections from Members of the National Sculpture Society 1875 - 1999, Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, and others. His work is featured in the collections of Gilcrease Museum, Denver Zoological Gardens, Wichita Art Museum, and Benson Sculpture Park in Loveland, Colorado.

No single artist inspires me. I draw bits and pieces of inspiration from everything I see.

How do you come up with an idea for a new piece of artwork?

See an animal or a plant, a gesture or a particular line that you want to explore further.

Where is the most inspirational place you've visited lately?

Ice Lake, Silverton, Colorado
